We all have been in a position where you either see someone wearing an outfit you like or in other cases you create your outfit in your head but when you put it on it just don’t look good or work for you. Most cases you would either just give an excuse for it or you proceed to another outfit.

In today’s blogpost, we are going to be explore the importance of dressing according to your body shape. We want to talk about styles that make you look and feel good at all times. Let’s start with figuring out the different female body shapes. The female body shapes include the Hourglass, Rectangular, Inverted triangle. Pear and Round aka apple.

HOW TO DRESS A HOURGLASS SHAPE BODY TYPE?

With an hourglass shape, your shoulders and hips are close to the same size, and you have a defined waist. Here are some tips and guidelines to help you style your figure.

  • I would say the first thing is to accentuate the waist. Opt. for clothing that cinches at the waist. This can include belted dresses or high waisted bottoms. Use wide belts to draw attention to your narrow waist.
  • Choose fitted tops that highlight your bust and also according to your comfort. To balance out your hips and shoulders, wide-leg pants can provide a flattering silhouette.
  • What to avoid is shapeless clothing. Baggy clothes tends to hide your curves and  make you look boxy.

HOW TO DRESS THE RECTANGULAR SHAPE BODY TYPE?

With this body shape, your shoulder measurements are similar to that of your hip.

With a rectangular body shape, we are creating the illusion of curves and adding definition to your figure. Here are some tips to help you dress in a way that enhances your rectangular shape.

  • Look for clothing that adds curves to your frame. Chose dresses, tops and jackets that have detailing around the bust and waist. Belted styles will help to create the illusion of an hourglass figure but avoid overly wide belts as they can make your waist to look wider. Pants with a bit of flare or wider leg openings tend to balance out your figure.

HOW TO DRESS INVERTED TRIANGLE SHAPE BODY TYPE?

With this body shape your shoulders are wider than the rest of your body.

  • Dressing for an inverted triangle body shape involves balancing your broader shoulders and narrower hips while accentuating your lower body to create a visually appealing silhouette.
  • Emphasize the lower body by choosing clothing that adds volume and interest to your lower body to balance out your broader shoulders. This can include wide-leg pants and fit- and – flare dresses. Dark colors on top and light colors on bottoms can visually minimize your broader shoulders whilst bringing the attention to your light-colored bottoms.
