HOW TO IDENTIFY YOUR BODY SHAPE

I often get asked this question on how does one dresses their body type. Today, I will be reviewing three most common body shapes and providing tips on how to dress them accordingly. At the end of this post, I have also provided a link to a survey that can help you to identify your body shape.

To understand your body type, you need to understand your measurement and curves. These include your hips, bust, and waist area. If you understand the numbers of your body, you will easily find pieces that fit and support you. Let’s get into three different body shapes that most people fall into.

First up is the inverted triangle. For those with the inverted triangle are my queens with the bigger boobs. Meaning you hold most of your weight in your bust area as seen described in the graphic below.

Next is the hourglass shape. These are my queens with the smaller waist but with hips and bust measure close in number.  See example in the graphic below.

Pear shape. This is where I fall into. My hip measurement is larger than my bust and waist. I have larger thighs, and my bump is heavier. See graphic below.

Understanding where you fall into these three body shapes will play a huge role in helping you dress your body type. Now that you have understood your body type based on the body shapes I provided above, the dressing should now be a lot easier.

When dressing, colors and patterns also play an important factor in dressing your body type accordingly. Darker colors like black help significantly in maximizing the appearance of things versus bright colors.

For our hourglass shape queens, blazers, wrap dresses, pencil skirts, and V-neck tops would work well for your body.

For an inverted triangle body type. Bottom down shirt, round neck tops, zipper infused blouse, and wide leg pants support your body shape well.

Lastly, for the pear shape queens, with the heavier bottom, pieces like form-fitted tops, ruffles, and darker bottom pieces would work well on your body type.
