Hey Sis! đź’•
Let’s talk skincare, specifically, the kind that comes into your life after pregnancy and says, “Surprise!” As a new mom, I’ve been navigating all the changes that come with postpartum life, and one of the biggest struggles I didn’t expect was hyperpigmentation. From hormonal shifts to sleepless nights, my skin has been through it and if you’re going through the same, just know you’re not alone.
Over the past few months, I’ve slowly built a postpartum skincare routine that’s been helping fade my dark spots, even out my complexion, and bring back my glow. These are the products that have been working for me, and I wanted to share them in case they help you too. Let’s get into it!
CELEBRATING UNCONDITIONAL LOVE: SUAH CLOTHING’S MOTHER’S DAY COLLECTION 2025
La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel Cleanser
This is my go-to morning cleanser. It’s formulated for oily, acne-prone skin and has a lightweight gel texture that gives me that fresh-faced feel without stripping my skin.
The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
A cult favorite for a reason! I love this serum for controlling oil and targeting dark spots. It helps calm inflammation and keeps my skin clear and balanced.
The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
Postpartum dehydration is real. I layer this hydrating serum after cleansing, and it plumps up my skin instantly. It’s lightweight and layers beautifully under everything.
Good Molecules Discoloration Correcting Serum
This product has truly helped even out my skin tone. It’s gentle yet effective, and I’ve been seeing noticeable improvement in my dark marks from pregnancy.
The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating Toner
I use this toner at night 2–3 times a week. It helps exfoliate dead skin cells and supports better product absorption. Just be sure to follow with SPF in the morning!
Dr. Althea 345 Relief Cream
For soothing, calming, and healing—this cream is packed with calming botanicals and has become my go-to whenever my skin is feeling sensitive or reactive.
Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 45 – Make It Matte
This sunscreen is everything! It’s lightweight, fragrance-free, and leaves no white cast. Plus, the matte finish makes it perfect under makeup.
Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm
Okay, not exactly a dark spot treatment, but this lip balm is a must for my daily routine. It keeps my lips soft, hydrated, and glossy without being sticky.
Final Thoughts
Postpartum skin can feel unpredictable, but giving yourself the grace to try, rest, and find what works is key. This routine isn’t perfect, but it’s been helping me feel like myself again, one serum at a time.
To all my fellow new moms out there: you deserve to glow too. Whether you’re two weeks or two years into this journey, it’s never too late to take care of YOU.
