If you’re like most people, you’re making changes to your wardrobe to match the cold weather of fall. Almost everyone in America buzz word for now is, fall look book or fall fashion. I mean, who does not love fall fashion? Even though I dislike the cold weather, I do like fall fashion. You get to wear your favorite winter coats and layer yourself up. Not only does the weather get colder, but we are also welcomed into fall and winter with so many wonderful holidays. The famous #noshavenovember, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Friendsgiving, Hanukkah, and my personal favorite Christmas.
As we make changes to our outfits and rearrange our closets, some forget to do the same for their makeup as well. Unlike others, the colder weather changes the melanin in my skin. My makeup shade changes to a shade lighter or darker depending on the season. To match my skin’s darker melanin during the summer weather, I use a shade lighter in my foundation. The same applies to the cold weather. The melanin also changes in my skin; but in this case, lighter so I use a shade darker for my foundation.
I visited Ulta a few days ago to stock up on my foundations and lipsticks for fall. I enjoy the bright and bold lipsticks that I get to wear during the colder seasons. If you’re like me, I struggle for a long time to find the perfect foundation for my skin type. If you read “MY CURRENT SKINCARE ROUTINE” blog post, you’re aware of how oily my face is. So, finding the right foundation was a challenge for a while.
Ladies, let’s face it; the makeup artists at the makeup store are not helpful all the time when it comes to us, darker-skinned ladies? When you’re trying on foundation, the look you get in the store versus outside is deceiving. Let’s face it, if it wasn’t for the queen @badgalriri, most brands will still not be carrying darker shade foundations for their darker skin customers.
