My Current Skincare Routine!

Read Time: 5 minutes

We all crave for the healthiest and best-looking skin while seeking the simplest way possible to achieve it. As I get older, my skincare routine has become my top priority. For someone like me who has oily face and dry skin, finding the right combination of products can be a hassle. Over the years, I have not been lucky to find products that work for me. I have tried different products that get the job done, but not as exactly as I want them to. One thing I have learned over time is consistency is key when it comes to skincare. If a product works, you have got to use it CONSISTENTLY in order to achieve the results you desire.

I am not an expert on skincare products or treatments so please take my review lightly. I have been on the market recently for new Skincare products that will help me clear my skin and control my oily face. Another thing you should know about my skin is that it is quite sensitive. My face will react and breakout to any product that is high in chemicals easily. My body on the other hand is very dry and absorbs lotion quickly. Winter is very harsh on my skin, some days I have to lotion between three to four times a day. At some point, I have also tried to create my own home body lotion in the past, but I couldn’t keep up because it is very time consuming.

Below is the breakdown of the products I currently use:

My skincare routine takes anywhere from 5-10 minutes every morning and night. I also don’t sleep with makeup on and I try not to wear makeup every day.

Cotton: I think every girl has one of these lying around somewhere in their bathrooms. I use Equate Beauty: Cotton Rounds to remove makeup or apply toner on my face.

Wipes: I use baby wipes to remove my makeup. There are actual makeup removal wipes out there, but this gets the job done and its affordable. The brand I use is called Equate from Walmart. Its gentle on my skin and the best part is that its flushable. Saves me time on trash removal

Liquid Makeup Remover: I currently use Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water makeup removal. I love how gentle it is on my skin without the harshness of other brands I have used in the past. One rub can remove my matte lipstick easily. For me, a bottle can last anywhere between three to four months.

Face Cleanser: I have been using CeraVe Facial Cleanser a little over a year now. Its light scented, gentle and leaves my face refreshed. This has helped me a lot with acne control since using it. Unlike other brands I have used in the past, CeraVe Facial Cleanser leaves my face moisturized. In the past, other brands were harsh on my skin and left my face dry.

Face Mist: I recently started using Brightening Face Mist from “By Nature from New Zealand”. It has Vitamin C + Turmeric in it as well. It’s meant to Energize your skin and its alcohol free. I use this at night only and I love how lite it is when I apply it on. Overall, I love the results I have been seeing so far.

Toner: My favorite toner is REN Clarimatte Clarifying Toner. It has helped to control my oily face and smooth my skin. It tingles a bit when you first apply it but the overall result is what I love.

Face Lotion: REN Overnight Dark Sport Removal Glow Lotion. I have been using this product for a few weeks now and I love how soft it leaves my face. For me, I have few dark spots on my face that I need help getting rid of completely. Since using REN, I have seen a difference in dark spot reduction on my face.

Serum: I currently use the Hydrating Facial Serum from Giovanni. My personal favorite part of doing a skincare routine, is when I get to apply my Serum. It leaves my skin soft, nourished, well hydrated and very refreshed. I use this both in the morning and night.

Lip Balm: Carmex is my go to lip balm. I have used it for years and it comes in handy during the winter. I apply Carmex before applying my lipstick or before bed when I have cleaned my face and brushed my teeth.

Bodywash: I am old school when it comes to bodywash. I have used African Black Soap almost all my life. There are different brands that make them, but I use the authentic African Black Soap from Liberia.

Body Lotion: Finding the right body lotion for my skin type can be very challenging. I was a stubborn child growing up, so I have lots of scares that I am trying to recover from. During the winter my skin gets very dry and absorbs all the lotion I use in the morning quickly. With the combination of these two things, there was never a lotion that work for me. Not until about a months ago when I found shopdidara. This has been the best lotion I have used in my life. Not to exaggerate but this is a fact. After shower, I apply their Lemongrass body, for which my hubby says, you smell amazing iyawo mi (my wife). Best $15 I have spent in my life.

My mother always  says, don’t let go of yourself after you’re married or in a relationship. Care for your wellbeing first, then you can care for everyone else. You can choose to take a weekly trip to the nails salon or just cooking your personal favorite meal, no matter how big or small that might be; take care of yourself first.

Until next time, don’t forget to love just a little bit more today.

Love,

Mrs. Egharevba
