FEBRUARY Q&A: FIRST YEAR BLOGGER, LIFE/WORK, CONTENT CREATION & MUCH MORE

As we began the new month, I can’t help but reflect on how much things have changed in the past year. Lately, the months go by so fast, and time seems to keep moving faster than usual. For February, I received questions about my journey as a first year blogger, Life, Content Creation & Much More. If you haven’t already, be sure to check my January Q&A to catch up. The questions are not answered in any particular order. Let’s do this thing.

What do you do for a living?

I am a Business Analyst for a Consulting Firm out here in the DMV. I have been working with this company for over four years now, and I have been in this field for the past seven years. I have a Masters in IT Project Management which enables me to do this job. Like every job, it has its ups and downs, but I like the people I work with and my team. I became a team lead a few months ago, which also helps to make the job exciting. It also challenges me to think outside the box and support my team well.

How do you define your style?

I will be honest with you guys with this one. My style is involving daily. However, I will say I gravitate towards styles that are chic, classic, and elegant. I love blazers, and those are classic pieces that can elevate any outfit. I also love wide-leg pants and trench coats which are super classic pieces. From time to time I will wear a sexy black dress which is an elegant look. To be direct, I love fashion, and I also love to be comfortable in what I wear, which helps define my style.

Where are you from?

I was born in Liberia, West Africa. I grew up in Guinea and later relocated to the United States about 13 years ago. We first settled in North Carolina when we moved to the US but then to Maryland. I always tell people I am a melting pot of culture whenever they asked where I am from. Liberia will always be home, but so does Guinea and the United States.

Any advice for a new blogger?

I am a new blogger and still learning the industry; however, I feel very privileged to be asked this question. To me, that means I am doing something right. Blogging is like every other job under the sun. You got to put in the work to be successful at it. It can be stressful, expensive, demanding, lonely, and challenging; however, it is rewarding. When you create that one content that did more than expected or when your audience shares your content on their feed or story and tags you, you feel loved. Those are the little moments that got me going. So my word of advice will be to enjoy the journey, allow yourself to fail and learn from your mistakes, don’t be afraid to ask, everything will not work in your favor, and that’s okay.

What Inspires you to create content?

Everything under the sun has been done before, and that’s okay. What’s lacking is my personal touch which gives me the joy to create. When I think of an idea, I do my research using Google or Pinterest and see what others are doing. I take my research a step further and add my personal touch to it. Sometimes it can be a little, but that is what I created, and I love it.

Most importantly, you must always love your content before seeking others’ love for it. If not, my friend, you will be wasting your time and that of your audience. My time is expensive oh lol.

Have you considered becoming a personal stylist?

No one can predict the future, but nothing is off the table. For now, I do enjoy being a personal shopper and stylist for my friends.

How did your family (husband) adopted to you being a blogger?

I will start with my husband and say that he is the best support system a wife could ask for. He will tell me if a look is horrible lol or I look like a million bucks. He attends all my shoots and assists in any way he can. My baba (hubby nickname) has been my rock.
My little sister and brother are my photographer, my dad is my accountant, and my mom is the praying machine lol. I will say I have a strong support system, and my family has adapted and accepted my journey well.

What else do you like to do besides blogging/fashion?

I love spending time with my husband and our fur-baby Morgan. I love to travel and host friends and family over at our home. With COVID, things are a little different with hosting, but I do enjoy time with hubby always.

What the difference between what you do and other bloggers?

I am a style content creator. I help women elevate and build their looks by creating style from pieces they already have in their closets. My purpose is to help women feel confident in whatever they have on. I sorely believe that one confidence can increase when one has on the right outfit.

How do you manage blogging and your personal life?

My honest answer is I don’t know. I give it all to God and hubby. God sees me through the tough times, and hubby holds my hands when I need him.

Any recommendations for places to shop as a new mom? I just had a baby.

The list is long, but I will start with ASOS. They have new and trendy pieces and sizes for all. Their prices fit all budget types. Misguided and Boohoo also have good and affordable prices.

That’s it for February Q&A, guys. I will see you all next month

Xoxo, Mo!
